Grab your tissues, folks.

Melissa posted this beautiful video today, and it made me cry like a baby.

Theo's Birth video from hailey bartholomew on Vimeo.

This is just exactly why I feel I'm meant to work with childbearing women, someday, in some capacity. Imagine getting to witness this kind of beauty every day - that kind of goodness is just too much for words.

from here

Despite the fact that I have NO time to spare over the next two days (or maybe because of it), I figured it would be a nice time to leave you with some pictures of pretty hair. The first one looks a bit 'done' to me, but the other two are just imperfect perfection.

*I am bad with the linking lately, I know. The first two pictures came from the same blog, and it was a beautiful one from which I saved many pictures, and then closed the tab never to find it again. If you know, please help!

A lot of words in which I actually say very little

I haven't often posted photos of myself here. Not for any particular reason, of course, just because I don't want this to be a 'this is what I did this weekend, and we got sooooo druunk and took some photos' or whatever, and truly, it's not often that I take photos of myself/have my photo taken without at least a small level of inebriation. It's just how it is; pulling out the camera and making pouty faces is usually more fun after a glass of wine or four that it typically is dead-sober, you know?

Huh. off-topic.

The reason I'm putting this picture up is twofold:

One, I made this necklace with a mind for something bold and cheerful to wear for the wedding. I'm not sure yet whether i'll wear it for that purpose, but it's fun, no?
The other reason I wanted to post this picture was that I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO show you all my lovely new lip colour, which I went on a quest today for with Nina after seeing this chanel lipstick ad:

Isn't that colour on the right just perfect? I had to have it. Never before has an advertisement had such a strong effect on me. Chanel isn't exactly in my budget right now, but I'd have splurged for it if I had to.

Luckily, I didn't. I found a perfectly comparable colour at a pharmacy by a brand I'd never noticed before called Pupa Milano for around half the cost of Coco's version.

Anyway, My intention was to show you the colour in my photo, except once uploaded off my iphone I realized the colours are awful and you can't tell at all. So please, take my word for it - my lips look just like Vanessa Paradis right now.

Flopsy, mopsy, and cottontail

As you may remember, my wedding gown is very simple, as are the bridesmaids dresses.

And simple is lovely. But I wanted some girly, frilly accessories to jazz things up. So, inspired by things such as this and this, I decided to craft up some fabric flowers to adorn our hair and dresses.

I didn't follow any specific directions, though I found tutorials like this one over at 100 Layer Cake and this template on Martha Stewart weddings helpful. after a few trial-and-errors in which one flower looks crazy and another far too flopsy, I beleive I've found the perfect process.
*excuse the poor-quality iphone images. one of my first purchases upon getting a big girl job will be a decent-quality camera.

Inspiration Board - florals

Made this a while back when we met with our florist to give her an idea of the types of flowers we were looking for. Here is what I came up with:loads of colour, pretty candles, big balloons, frilly flowers, lemons lining the aisle. Sound like the best wedding you've ever been to?

*I've pulled these pictures from my inspiration folders but can't remember where a single one came from. If you know where or are the owner of these images, please let me know so I can credit the appropriate sources!

The best dress

I LOVE dresses. Did you know that, chickens?
In fact, Over the past year, I have worn them almost exclusively. I have one pair of jeans which get a fair rotation in my closet and a pair of trousers I wear once in a blue moon, but other than that, Dresses and tights and cardigans make up the bulk of the things I wear.

and this Kate spade dress is making me absolutely swoon right now:

So modern, so ladylike, and that bow? catch me, please.
